The Texas A&M University Rodeo Club is sponsoring an intercollegiate rodeo Friday and Saturday at the Burleson County Fairgrounds in Caldwell.
Performances start at 7:30 both evenings.
More than 15 colleges from the southern region of the national intercollegiate rodeo association (N.I.R.A.) will compete. Two sections of bull riding are scheduled for Thursday with a championship round Friday.
This marks one of 10 qualifying rodeos that determines who will go to the college national finals rodeo in Casper, Wyo., in June.
Advanced tickets are $6 at Cavenders and DK's Quick Stop in Caldwell;

In memory of Canaan Bernier.
This year's Moriarty and Estancia High School Rodeo, held Saturday and Sunday at Moriarty's Heritage Arena, was dedicated to Bernier, an 8-year-old New Hampshire boy. He died March 23 after a 41/2-year battle with neuroblastoma cancer.
On behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the local high school rodeo club held a special rodeo— just for Bernier— on May 23, 2004, in Moriarty. The boy and his family also were treated to horseback rides, and he sat on a bull in one of Heritage's chutes.
"His dad (Marc) called me Wednesday," said Don Martinez, the club's adult leader. "He said he appreciated Canaan being able to fulfill his dream of being a cowboy. He said Canaan kept all the things he got here— the chaps, the hat, all those things— close beside him to the very end.
"So we dedicated our rodeo to him, and we'll probably continue to do so."
Bernier's obituary, published by Peabody Funeral Homes of Derry and Londonderry, N.H., indicated he was a second-grader at Henry Moore Elementary in Candia, N.H.
"Canaan's desire was to be a cowboy, and he enjoyed country music," the obituary noted.
The 2006 club rodeo had "about 240 participants (from across the state), the most we've ever had," Martinez said.
Edgewood's Seth Hall won the all-around cowboy award. He said he earned about $500 over the weekend.
Hall was first in calf roping and teamed with Silver City's Bryce Runyan to win the buckle in team roping.
Hall, 15, was the reserve champion at the 2005 Wrangler Junior High National Finals Rodeo in Gallup.
"It's been going real well," said the 6-foot home-schooled prep freshman. "I've been winning a lot. That's always good."
Hall said he also took the calf-roping competition at the recent Valencia County High School Rodeo in Belen.
Spud Jones of La Luz was first in bull riding during Sunday morning's session.
But in the afternoon, the bulls won. Many of the local club's riders competed in that final event.
"I didn't do so hot," said Moriarty sophomore J.W. Smith. "But I like bull riding, the adrenaline rush, the power of the bull."
The club's other bull riders included Sky Chavez, Dominic Coché, Derrick Fincher, Robert Gibson, David Owen, Tyler Riley and Andy Weyrich.
Coché, an Estancia junior, rode in the morning.
"I covered 8 seconds," he said. "I got a reride, but I got bucked off."
Moriarty senior Sara Chavez is the club's vice president.
"I had a bad rodeo in barrels, but I did better in poles," she said. "(Sunday) in poles, it was a good time (in 21.821 seconds for ninth place)."
The club president, Moriarty senior Levi Fincher, competed in steer wrestling.
"We worked hard to do this rodeo," Fincher said. "Without the boys and girls in this club, there wouldn't be a rodeo. Don (Martinez) got a little stressed out, but we got it done."
